May 30 — St. Petersburg Precision Alloys Plant congratulates everyone on Welder’s Day!

Dear colleagues, partners, and representatives of the metallurgical industry!

Petersburg Plant of Precision Alloys (PZPS) warmly congratulates you on the professional holiday — Welder’s Day, celebrated annually in Russia on May 30!

Your profession requires not only high professionalism but also genuine creativity, for it is you who create strong and reliable joints that become the basis of durable structures and technological solutions. Thanks to your labor, metallurgy, machine building, energy, and other key industries develop.

We wish you good health, safe working conditions, new professional achievements, family well-being, and, of course, sincere recognition of the results of your work. May every working day bring satisfaction and confidence in tomorrow.

Happy holiday, dear welders! May the welding arc always be steady, and every seam reliable and neat!

History of the holiday: from idea to tradition

The appearance of Welder’s Day is not an accident but a natural step in recognizing the significance of this profession.

Several facts:

  • The holiday date — May 30 — is tied to the decision adopted in the USSR in 1958 on the need to develop welding production as a strategic direction.
  • Welder’s Day was first celebrated in 2001 on the initiative of the National Agency of Welders of Russia (NASR).
  • Today the holiday has all-Russian scale and support of the professional community.

How Welder’s Day is celebrated in Russia

In honor of the professional holiday, events are held across the country aimed at raising the prestige of welding production and exchanging experience. It is also a platform for demonstrating achievements and new technologies in welding production.

Main events held on May 30:

  • Professional conferences and seminars discussing modern welding methods, process automation, innovative materials and technologies.
  • Professional skill competitions, including among young specialists and university students.
  • Advanced training and courses organized by industry training centers and enterprises.
  • Awarding the best welders, presenting certificates of honor, titles, and prizes.
  • Exhibitions of equipment and materials demonstrating new welding equipment and software.

These events not only raise the prestige of the profession but also give specialists the opportunity to exchange experience and introduce advanced solutions

Welding and PZPS products: where metal and craftsmanship meet

At Petersburg Plant of Precision Alloys welding occupies an important place in the production chain. It is especially important when releasing cold-rolled metal strip, where accuracy and minimization of metal losses are decisive.

Metals and alloys produced by PZPS

We produce high-quality cold-rolled strip from the following materials for various industries:

  • Soft magnetic alloys: 27KKh, 49K2FA-VI, 50N, 50NP, 79NM, 80NM, 81NMA
  • Used in transformers, relays, and sensors; they have excellent magnetic permeability.
  • Weldability: satisfactory; require precise observance of the temperature regime.
  • Electrical steel: 20895, 20880, 20860, 20832, 21895, 21880, 21860, 21832
  • Used in producing electric motors, generators, and transformers.
  • Welds well, especially in shielding gases, provided preheating is used.
  • Precision alloys with high electrical resistance: Kh15Yu5, Kh23Yu5, Kh23Yu5T, Kh20N80N, Kh15N60N
  • Used in heating elements, resistors, and thermocouples.
  • Weldability varies: some require argon-arc welding, others — soldering with flux.
  • Precision alloys with specified elasticity: 17KhNGT, 36NKhTYu, 40KKhNM
  • Used in instrument engineering, measuring equipment, and sensitive mechanisms.
  • Welding technology requires precise heating control to preserve elastic properties.
  • Corrosion-resistant steel: 12Kh18N9, 12Kh18N10T, 10Kh17N13M3T
  • These are classic stainless steels in demand in the food, chemical, and medical industries.
  • Distinguished by good weldability, especially when using argon-arc or laser welding.
  • Petersburg Plant of Precision Alloys is an enterprise with more than 160 years of history, where traditions of an engineering approach and modern technologies combine. We do not simply produce metal — we create materials for development.

    Happy holiday, dear welders!

May your labor always be highly valued, and may the metal you work with only emphasize your craftsmanship. On behalf of the PZPS team we thank you for high qualification and responsibility, the ability to work with the most complex materials, loyalty to the profession, and striving for perfection.
