A new training classroom at PZPS: a step toward strengthening human resources

A classroom for the training and methodology center was recently opened at Petersburg Plant of Precision Alloys. Located on the 26th Line of Vasilievsky Island, this center will be an important step toward solving the shortage of qualified personnel in the metallurgical industry.

Licensing and capabilities of the educational center

On the path to opening its own training center, PZPS obtained a license to carry out educational activities in two types of education: vocational training and additional professional education. This license allows the enterprise not only to train its employees but also to provide educational services on a commercial basis.

Training programs

Vocational training covers a number of educational program areas that provide the knowledge and skills needed to perform complex production tasks. Among the programs available will be the following:

• Cold- and hot-rolling mill operators.
• Slingers.
• Plumbers.
• Electric and gas welders.
• Metal surface defect processors.
• Cold metal cutters.

Each of these programs aims to train qualified workers and employees.

Additional professional education

Besides vocational training, the PZPS Training and Methodology Center offers additional professional education (APE) programs. These programs aim at upskilling and professional retraining of specialists who already have higher or secondary vocational education. APE areas are as follows:

1. Upskilling — short courses aimed at updating specialists’ theoretical and practical knowledge in line with current employer requirements.
2. Professional retraining — comprehensive training that makes it possible to obtain a new qualification for another professional activity.

APE programs help specialists remain in demand on the labor market by adapting to changes in their professional field and mastering new technologies.

First educational program

The first educational program at the new PZPS training and methodology center will be dedicated to metal forming. This course will let employees deepen their knowledge of metallurgy and prepare qualified personnel to solve specific tasks in production.
