Alloy 40KhKhNM is a precision material consisting of cobalt (40%), iron (11–18%), nickel (15–17%), and chromium (19–21%) in accordance with GOST 10994-74. High chromium content provides elevated corrosion resistance, making steel 40KhKhNM suitable for medical products. The material is used to make connecting and implantable elements for cardiovascular surgery and fully complies with GOST 51397-99.
In addition, precision alloy 40KhKhNM is widely used in various industries. High shear modulus and flexural elastic limit make it ideal for elastic and elastically sensitive elements, as well as springs for various mechanisms, including watches. The alloy is also used as a base for coiled cylindrical springs used in machine tools and instruments, even at elevated temperatures (up to +400°C).
