PZPS expands its product line: launching production of bars from soft magnetic alloys per GOST 10160-75

Petersburg Plant of Precision Alloys (PZPS) — one of Russia’s leading producers of high-tech metal products — announces an expansion of its product range. In response to growing demand from electrical engineering and instrument-making enterprises, the plant has mastered production of bars from soft magnetic precision alloys conforming to GOST 10160–75.

A new step in developing technological independence

The soft magnetic materials market is developing dynamically today. Transformer cores, electromagnetic shields, magnetic system elements, and precision instruments increasingly require materials with high magnetic permeability, low coercivity, and minimal hysteresis losses.

PZPS views launching production of bars from such alloys as a strategic step. This is not only strengthening the enterprise’s technological independence and expanding the range of high-tech materials but, most importantly, meeting the needs of customers for whom stability of magnetic properties and geometric accuracy are decisive.

Main parameters and features of the new products

The new products are intended for manufacturing cores, pole pieces, magnetic system elements, and other critically important components of modern electronics where the following are required:

  • high magnetic permeability;
  • low coercivity;
  • minimal hysteresis losses.

Key parameters:

  • finished bar diameter: from 40 to 100 mm;
  • conformity to GOST 10160-75;
  • full production cycle;
  • multi-stage quality control at all production stages.

This combination of factors ensures not only basic standard conformity but also reproducibility of magnetic properties under serial production conditions.

Technological chain at PZPS

PZPS applies the following production technology:

  1. Ingot melting — carried out in vacuum induction furnaces, ensuring precise chemical composition and minimal gas and impurity content.
  2. Forging (hot deformation) — ingots undergo hot forging, forming a dense, uniform macrostructure free of defects, which directly affects stability of magnetic properties.
  3. Machining — the finishing stage: forgings undergo precise machining that ensures strict conformity to stated diameters, high surface quality, and geometric accuracy.
  4. Full quality control — at each production stage laboratory studies are conducted: chemical analysis, magnetic tests (for example measuring initial and maximum magnetic permeability, coercivity), checking geometric dimensions and tolerances, assessing surface and structural defects.

Reliability confirmed by technology

PZPS invites enterprises of electrical engineering, instrument making, and other industries to cooperate. The new products — bars from soft magnetic alloy grades 49KF, 27Kh, 50N, 79NM with diameter 40–100 mm conforming to GOST 10160–75 — are already available to order.

If you are working on a project that requires a highly efficient magnetic circuit, core, or other soft magnetic alloy component — this offer may be your solution.

Also available to order are bars 40–100 mm in diameter from precision alloys:

  • with a specified temperature coefficient of linear expansion grades 29NK and 42N per GOST 14082-78;
  • with specified elastic properties grade 36NKhTYu per GOST 14119-85.
