Alloy 10Х17Н13М3Т (10Kh17N13M3T) is a high-alloy corrosion-resistant steel of the austenitic class. It exhibits high heat resistance and heat strength. It is suitable for use under prolonged exposure to aggressive environments.

10Kh17N13M3T – A Cold-Resistant Stainless Material

The chemical composition of 10Kh17N13M3T alloy is regulated by GOST 5632-2014 and includes the following elements:

  • chromium (Cr) – 16% to 18%;
  • nickel (Ni) – at least 12% and no more than 14%;
  • molybdenum (Mo) – 2% to 3%;
  • manganese (Mn) – no more than 2%;
  • carbon (C) – up to 0.1%;
  • silicon (Si) – no more than 0.8%;
  • titanium (Ti) – 0.5% to 0.7%;
  • sulfur (S) – no more than 0.02%;
  • phosphorus (P) – no more than 0.045%.

Due to the high chromium content, an oxide film forms on the surface of the alloy, preventing premature degradation. The addition of molybdenum increases heat resistance, while titanium enhances cryogenic properties, which is important for material stability under low-temperature conditions.

Decoding the Designation

The main chemical elements and their percentage ratios are reflected in the 10Kh17N13M3T designation: the first number 10 indicates the carbon content (0.1%); the letter Х (Kh) denotes chromium, and the number 17 indicates its approximate mass fraction (17%); the letter Н (N) indicates the presence of nickel, and the number 13 indicates its average volume (13%); М (M) indicates molybdenum, and the number 3 indicates its approximate amount (3%); Т (T) indicates the presence of titanium.

Material Features: High Strength and Corrosion Resistance

The main characteristics of 10Kh17N13M3T alloy include:

  • increased strength – after heat treatment, the tensile strength is 530 MPa in accordance with GOST 4986-79;
  • good plasticity – due to heat treatment, the material's plasticity increases: at a thickness of 0.05-0.2 mm, the relative elongation is 20%;
  • corrosion resistance – the alloy has high resistance to corrosion in various environments, including acids and alkalis. Additionally, 10Kh17N13M3T is characterized by resistance to intergranular corrosion and does not lose its properties when used at elevated temperatures.

10Kh17N13M3T alloy is an analog of the American grade AISI 316Ti, allowing domestic products to replace the widely used imported material on the market.

Application Areas of 10Kh17N13M3T

The alloy is ideal for manufacturing equipment that operates under conditions of high humidity, aggressive environments, and high temperatures. Due to its high technical characteristics, 10Kh17N13M3T remains one of the most in-demand materials in various industries. It is used:

  • in the chemical industry – for producing equipment that must withstand aggressive environments;
  • in the food industry – for manufacturing containers and other products that come into contact with food;
  • in medicine – for producing medical equipment;
  • in the textile, pharmaceutical, and pulp and paper industries – for manufacturing laboratory equipment.

10Kh17N13M3T is also used in the production of pipes, heat exchangers, reactors, tanks, and other products that operate under conditions of high humidity and temperature.
